The public’s lack of knowledge about embryonic stem cell research is one of the main issues in society. The  possibilities of stem cells are unknown to society because people in it do not bother to think about the topic or even look into it. Many don’t know how beneficial stem cells are in the medical world and how much closer we are to curing diseases and cancers. The general public has vague knowledge about the controversial topic and the debates over it. Assumptions arise as more and more people discover stem cells.  Some assume that embryonic stem cells are from the destruction of an embryo or fetus during abortion. But they don’t realize that any embryonic stem cells in stem cell research all originate in spare embryos from clinic that perform IVFs.
